<p><strong>Take care of yourself! </strong>We all say it to our clients, but how many of us do it? Making yourself a priority can feel selfish or cause a bad case of guilt. But consider this: you can invest in yourself from a place of wellness and self-love or spend money and time on the path of physical and emotional recovery. Either way you will be using energy. Choosing wellness and self-love shifts us from a position of victim, which leads to energy loss, to the position of empowerment, which leads to energy gain. Since the Chakra System reflects our emotional reality, self-love automatically opens the chakra and allows it to metabolize the abundant energy from the universal field that constantly surrounds us.</p>
<p>The word chakra, from ancient Sanskrit, means &#8220;wheel or circle.&#8221; In the energy anatomy of our bodies, there are an estimated 88,000 of these circles or centers of energy .</p>
<p>Seven of these chakras are widely recognized and have become the focal point of the many  mind-body approaches to healing.</p>
<p>1) <strong>ROOT Chakra</strong> is know by its Sanskrit name:<em> Muladhara, which means &#8220;<strong>foundation or support</strong>&#8221; It is located at the base of the spine. This center governs the physical body and connects us to earth. The energy of this chakra is the foundation of our mental and emotional health. Spending quiet time out in nature is a wonderful way to enhance the flow of the base chakra and our connection to mother earth.</em></p>

<p>2) <strong>SACRAL Chakra</strong> is know by its Sanskrit name:<em> Svadhisthana, which means &#8220;<strong>loveliness or home of the self</strong>&#8220;. The second chakra is located in the center of the abdomen a few fingers down from the navel. This energy center governs the foundational energy  of our personal power, creativity, and sexuality. The third chakra is located in the center of the abdomen a few fingers above the navel. This chakra fuels the fire of digeston and governsour ability to digest our life. Be aware of what you are putting in your body. What you take in through your eyes and ears affect the digestive system as much as the food you eat.</p>
<p>4)<strong> HEART CENTER</strong> chakra is know by its Sanskrit name: <em>Anahata</em>, which means <strong>&#8220;whole or unbroken</strong>&#8220;. The fourth chakra opens and flows when we have arrived at self-acceptance. A place of openness, this center offers a safe haven for gaining the wisdom of non-judgment of yourself and others. Appling the principals of compassion by our inner dialog and congruent action opens this energy center, flooding our body with an abundant source of loving energy.</p>
<p>5)<strong> THROAT</strong> Chakra is know by its Sanskrit name:<em> Vishuddha</em>, which means &#8220;<strong>pure</strong>&#8220;. The fifth chakra governs the thyroid, metabolism, immune system and is the center of expression. Healthy boundaries and effective communication are aligned within the flow of this energy  center. Self-criticism sends our emotional well-being into flux, causing the chakras to restrict and lose energy. Becoming mindful of how you talk to yourself helps you be aware of where you are gaining or losing energy.</p>

The sixth chakra affects our capacity to think and reason. <p>They provide healing and support for all body systems, as well as much-needed emotional and mental support for the body.</p>

These negative disturbances cause an imbalance in homeostasis, the natural balance of body systems and health. Homeostasis is the natural state of such challenges, even when they do not directly result in disease, cause our bodies to function at a sub-optimal level. The Aroma Touch™ Technique works to restore homeostasis, and minimize the impact of these factors. Four systemic constants that most often impair homeostasis are:</p>

<p>Stress</p>
<p>Emotional distress, career choices, family discord, financial worries, lack of rest, etc. all elevate stress levels in the body. Elevated stress levels, maintained over time, have been shown in clinical studies to cause negative consequences to health. Studies have revealed that over time high stress levels can contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease, depression, insomnia, and ulcers.</p>
<p>Stress also negatively impacts the immune system, leaving it increasingly vulnerable to pathogens. Stress causes the body to increase its production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter in charge of vital nervous system functions. Elevated serotonin levels are harmful to the body’s immunity. While serotonin works to monitor emotional and nerve health at normal levels, at elevated levels it can destroy white blood cells, resulting in a weakened immune system. Stress also causes increased levels of cortisol and epinephrine in body, further weakening immune response.</p>

<p>Toxic Insult</p>
<p>Immunity depends on the ability of the body to produce effective white blood cells, complementary proteins, and other cell and body barriers. The immune system comprises a large network of organs and varied cell types, carrying out a range of interrelated functions. Its interconnectedness leaves it very vulnerable to toxins. The normal functioning of the immune system can be easily hampered by a number of factors: environmental, dietary, medical interventions, etc. Exposure to a wide array of toxic insults including disease-causing pathogens, hormone or pesticide contaminated food products, increasing levels of free-radical pollution, and overexposure to radiation all contribute to the weakening of the immune system.</p>

<p>Inflammation</p>
<p>The inflammatory response occurs when body tissues are injured by bacteria, trauma, toxins, heat, or any other cause. The increased consumption of foods with pro-inflammatory components (foods high in polyunsaturated vegetable oils and trans-fats) together with high carbohydrate and low protein consumption contribute to increased inflammation in body tissues. Stress with its accompanying imbalance of cortisol, can also contribute to chronic uncontrolled inflammation and various immunological dysfunctions. Studies increasingly show a direct link between chronic illness, inflammation, and fatal disease. Inflammation is also harmful to the body’s autonomic balance because of its pain inducing effects.</p>

<p>Autonomic Imbalance</p>
<p>The opposite of homeostasis, an imbalance of the autonomic nervous system (also known as the ANS, or visceral nervous system) can negatively impact health in a number of ways. Recent research has shown a direct link between autonomic imbalance and hypertension (high blood pressure). There is also evidence that autonomic imbalance can lead to cardiovascular morbidity and even mortality. Autonomic imbalances can result from a number of sources, the major ones are mentioned above: stress, decreased immunity, and inflammation. Restoring homeostasis, or autonomic balance, can reduce the physiological impact of stressors on the body.</p>
